Reason #20 to Vote Out Hare

Reason #20: Phil Hare and the
Democratic Congress led this
country down the wrong path.

The Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign unveiled the 20th and final reason in their “20 Reasons to Vote Out Phil Hare” series. The series focuses on Phil Hare’s record and explains why he does not deserve re-election.

Reason #20 to Vote Phil Hare Out of Office: Phil Hare and the Democratic Congress have led this country down the wrong path.

The same politicians that got our country into this mess are now promising to get us out.

Since Congressman Hare took office, Democrats have controlled both the House and Senate. During this time, unemployment rates have doubled, $5 trillion has been added to the national debt, and we’ve had record setting deficits upwards of $1,416,000,000,000. We must make a change.

Phil Hare voted for the $787 billion stimulus package that failed to hold unemployment under 8% as promised. Instead, unemployment hit 10.1%, 2.7 million jobs were lost, thousands of jobs were sent overseas and tens of millions of dollars were wasted on advertising and payments made out to the deceased. We must make a change.

Phil Hare supported the government takeover of our health care system that will cut $500,000,000,000 from Medicare, cost 1.6 million jobs and pave the way for employers to drop health insurance coverage. We must make a change.

Phil Hare voted for the Cap and Trade National Energy Tax which would add a tax of $1,700 on american families and kill 2.5 million jobs. We cannot give Phil Hare another opportunity to support this job-robbing legislation. We must make a change.

Rather than making a budget or working to provide Americans with certainty due to the expiring tax cuts, Phil Hare cast the deciding vote to take a recess, neglecting his duties as a member of Congress. We must make a change.

Rather than defending his voting record and running a positive campaign, Phil Hare resorted to false attacks and outright lies. He lied about receiving an endorsement from an agricultural group, approved a malicious ad that falsely accused Bobby Schilling of not paying his income taxes, and tried to fool the people of Illinois into believing that Schilling’s small business in Moline was somehow shipping jobs overseas. We must make a change.

Bobby Frederick, communications director for the Bobby Schilling campaign, said that the time for Americans to voice their opinion on the direction of this country is just hours away.

“After almost two years, 265,000 miles driven, and thousands of conversations with Illinois families, Bobby Schilling is ready to serve. As a small business owner with a labor background, Bobby has experience in putting people back to work. He has balanced a budget, committed to not raise taxes, and will attack the wasteful spending of Washington. If you are tired of the same stale politics of yesteryear, want someone who leads by example and can get our economy moving again, Bobby Schilling would appreciate your vote. On November 2, 2010, we must make a change and Bobby Schilling is the right person to deliver our voices to Washington.”

Reason #19: Phil Hare’s frightening follies

The Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign unveiled the 19th reason in their “20 Reasons to Vote Out Phil Hare” series. The series focuses on Phil Hare’s record and explains why he does not deserve re-election. The campaign will release one reason per day up until the election.

Reason #19 to Vote Phil Hare Out of Office: Phil Hare’s frightening follies.

This Halloween we take a look back at Congressman Hare’s most frightening follies. We hope voters consider these five delusional and out-of-touch statements as they head to the polls on Tuesday.

1. Hare: “We’ve got job growth, we’re headed in the right direction.”

In reality, we’ve lost almost 400,000 jobs in the past four months. We cannot continue to head in this negative direction.

2. Hare: “Every minute I have here is going to be spent on trying to debunk the myth that this country’s in debt and we just can’t spend.”

In reality, we’ve seen another $5 trillion added to our national debt on Phil Hare’s watch. Our national debt now stands at a frightening $13.7 trillion. Each American’s share of the debt stands at $43,000 and counting. We cannot continue on this path of fiscal irresponsibility.

3. Hare: “I think we’ve already done some deficit reduction.”

In reality, our country has run deficits of epic proportions under Phil Hare’s watch.

Federal Deficit By The Numbers

2007 – The deficit was $161 billion or 1.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
2008 – The deficit was $407 billion or 3.2% of the GDP.
2009 – The deficit was $1.416 trillion or 10% of the GDP.
2010 – The deficit was $1.294 trillion or 8.9% of GDP.

We cannot risk another two years of Phil Hare and his out-of-touch views on deficit reduction.

4. Hare: “Tomorrow I’m going to be receiving the endorsement of the corn growers.”

During the WQPT debate, Phil Hare falsely claimed to have received the endorsement of the Illinois Corn Growers Association (ICGA).

In reality, the ICGA never endorsed Hare. Phil Hare’s re-election plan is to mislead voters rather than run on his own voting record.

5. Hare: “I think quite frankly, I don’t think they know, and I don’t think we know yet.”

This was Phil Hare’s response when asked whether businesses would stop insuring their employees under the new healthcare bill. Even though Nancy Pelosi’s legislative philosophy is, “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it,” Phil Hare can’t tell us what is in store under the healthcare takeover that he claims to have read three times.

In reality, we have already seen companies such as McDonald’s, Deloitte, AT&T, Caterpillar, and John Deere weigh the costs of paying a fine rather than keeping healthcare coverage for their employees.

Reason #18 to Vote Out Hare

On October 31, 2010, in 20 Reasons To Vote Against Hare, by edwardpan

Reason #18: Phil Hare voted for a new
National Energy Tax

The Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign unveiled the 18th reason in their “20 Reasons to Vote Out Phil Hare” series. The series focuses on Phil Hare’s record and explains why he does not deserve re-election. The campaign will release one reason per day up until the election.

Reason #18 to Vote Phil Hare Out of Office: Phil Hare voted for a new National Energy Tax. On June 26, 2009, Nancy Pelosi and Phil Hare pushed through H.R. 2454, the Cap and Trade National Energy Tax.

This 1,428 page, job-robbing piece of legislation would cap greenhouse gas emissions and set up a trading system where companies could trade emissions permits. Not only would this legislation raise taxes on American families by more than $1,700 a year, it would also kill 2.5 million jobs, forcing more than 120,000 jobs out of Illinois. The process for this job-killing bill was flawed and lacked transparency. Democrats inserted a 300 page amendment in the middle of the night and gave members less than 16 hours to read and comprehend the changes. When asked about his position on the Cap and Trade National Energy Tax at a recent debate, incumbent Phil Hare could only say that the bill “is dead in the United States Senate.” What he failed to tell the people of Illinois is that he voted for this bill and would again if the Democrats continue to control the Congress.

Incumbent Phil Hare also sent 6,000 jobs overseas with his vote for the $787 billion failed stimulus package.

Bobby Frederick, communications director for the Bobby Schilling campaign, said this is just another example of an incumbent Congressman refusing to own up to his voting record.

“The Cap and Trade National Energy Tax will undoubtedly raise taxes on Illinois families and send 120,000 jobs out of our state. Phil Hare’s voting record has stifled job creation and sent jobs overseas. We need elected officials who are committed to lowering taxes and keeping jobs in Illinois. Bobby Schilling has signed a pledge to not raise taxes on anyone, and he will fight this National Energy Tax so that we can keep jobs in Illinois where they belong.”

Check out this great endorsement today for Bobby, “A New Direction?” The editorial board wrote:

“We believe, as do many Americans, that the one-party rule in Washington is propelling our country in the wrong direction on several issues that greatly impact Main Street.”

Reason #17 to Vote Out Hare

On October 29, 2010, in 20 Reasons To Vote Against Hare, by edwardpan

Reason #17: People are fleeing the
district at an alarming rate.

The Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign unveiled the 17th reason in their “20 Reasons to Vote Out Phil Hare” series. The series focuses on Phil Hare’s record and explains why he does not deserve re-election. The campaign will release one reason per day up until the election.

Reason #17 to Vote Phil Hare Out of Office: People are fleeing the district at an alarming rate.

Since 2000, the Illinois 17th District has lost 22,786 residents. In fact, our district has experienced the 25th worst population decline in the entire country by congressional district over that period.

It is clear that the job-killing policies that Phil Hare has supported for the past four years have not helped move us in the right direction. Hare voted for the healthcare takeover that will cost 1.6 million jobs by 2014. Hare also voted for the Cap and Trade National Energy Tax which would send 2.5 million jobs overseas. On Hare’s watch, our unemployment rate has doubled and we’ve added $5 trillion to our national debt.

Bobby Frederick, communications director for the Bobby Schilling campaign, said that people are leaving our area because Democrats in Congress have not created an environment that will fuel job growth.

“It is vital that we bring change to Illinois and our area. It’s time to elect a Congressman who will proactively work with small business to create jobs, instead of sending them overseas. We cannot afford another two years of the adverse, job-killing policies pushed by Phil Hare and Nancy Pelosi. Bobby Schilling will fight to bring jobs back to this area.”
