Historic Night for the American People

EAST MOLINE, IL– Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for Congress in the Illinois 17th Congressional District, is teaming up with the Rock Island County Republican Party to host an election night rally in the Rock Island County GOP Headquarters in downtown Moline.  Supporters of Scott Brown are expected to be in attendance.

“Either way you look at it, this special election in Massachusetts will be historic,” said Bobby Schilling. “The fact that this race is close at all is a sign that the Democratic Party’s ‘tax and spend’ agenda is not popular with the general public or even members of their own party.”

Schilling continued, “If Scott Brown gets close in Massachusetts, I think that it can help clear up a lot of misconceptions about politics here, locally. If we can do it in Massachusetts, we can do it in Illinois. People are ready for a change and they want independent thinkers. They are sick of ‘rank and file’ party members that just follow in the mold of their party leaders.”

The campaign will have a television or live feed to watch the results of the Massachusetts Senate Election during the party.

The media is invited to attend, take pictures, and interview supporters during the event. Below are the event details:

Rock Island County GOP Headquarters
1721 5th Avenue
Moline, IL 61265

Event will begin at 7PM, and will keep going until there is a determinable winner in the race.

Bobby Schilling, a native of Rock Island, has served as a local union steward and also has 13 years of union experience. 17th District Race Highlighted on National Review

Hare’s Vulnerability gets National Attention

EAST MOLINE, IL—A recent post on National Review, a nationally syndicated political blog, featured the 17th Congressional District of Illinois as a competitive seat to its national readership. National Review cited a recent poll conducted across the 17th district in which only 39.5% of respondents said that they would vote to re-elect Congressman Phil Hare. The poll also showed that over 47% would not vote to support Congressman Hare. Jim Geraghty of National Review, noted that Obama won the 17th district with 56% of the vote.

“While we are excited about this poll, we know that we have a lot of work ahead of us,” said Terry Schilling, press secretary for the Bobby Schilling for Congress campaign. “The 2010 mid-term elections are going to be historic. No incumbent with Phil Hare’s record should feel safe. People are not happy with what our current Congress has been doing and its unprecedented explosion of government, spending and debt–and this poll certainly confirms that fact.”

Schilling continued, “Recent Republican victories in New Jersey and Virginia are also a major indicator that the national mood is beginning to change. He also said that the newly competitive Senate race in Massachusetts, which has been a Democratic stronghold for decades, is also indicative that the country is fed up with the job that Congress has been doing.”

In conclusion, Schilling stated , “We are working around the clock to win this race. The campaign just finished a 34-city “Bob’s for Jobs Tour” and we are planning many more in the future. The November election is approaching and we need to keep working hard if we are going to win this seat.”
